Keeping Your Bill Acceptors in the Field and Out of the Shop

Over the last few weeks, Recognition Technology Specialists, Inc. (RTS) has added a number of new vending operator customers to our rolls. These operators have tried the Lucky Stripe Waffletechnology Bill Acceptor Cleaning Card ans are seeing the benefits of using them in a program of regular maintenance. Let’s face facts, when a Bill Acceptor is in the field accepting valid currency, it is contributing to your bottom line. When it is in the shop it is reducing your bottom line. Which is the better location for your Bill Acceptors?

Other than actual breakdowns of either machinery or electronics in a Bill Acceptor, there is no good reason for having to take it out of a machine and bring it into the shop. A program of regular maintenance using the Lucky Stripe Waffletechnology Bill Acceptor Cleaning card will enable you to keep your devices in the field longer and keep them accepting valid currency instead of rejecting good bills as they tend to do when they get dirty.

With what you have just seen and with our offer to send a couple of sample cards for you to try at not risk or obligation to you, why not contact RTS today and request your samples. It is likely that your competition already has!

Counting the Bounty in this Cash Business

Vending machines take paper currency far more often than they used to.   This means hours of painstaking counting and sorting of bills.   This means that many vending operators have come to rely on the automatic currency counter as a mission critical piece of equipment for daily operations.   When this device is malfunctioning or simply not working, it can mess up the entire accounting works at an operator’s offices!

How to deal with this problem without depending upon Excedrin, Advil, Tylenol, or Aspirin?   You simply purchase Waffletechnology™ Currency Counter Cleaning Cards and with regular use, your problems will simply disappear, along with the oils and dirt contaminating your unit.   RTS Recommends using one or two cards to clean your unit when you first get your new cards.   The card should come out “somewhat” dirty, but not totally filthy and brown from end to end with dirt, oils, and inks from the treasury notes.   If the first card–after inserting 6-10 times through the machine–comes out looking like what was just described, perhaps you should use a second card to insure that your unit is clean.

After the initial cleaning, one card every month should do the trick.   Now, if you are processing a very large number of bills each week, you may see a decline in your unit’s performance between cleanings, that is an indication that you may need to clean more often.   At that point, go to every 2 weeks and see how the counter performs between cleanings.   Your goal is to keep the device functioning in tip top condition, without any misfeeds, jams, or other problems.   You should be able to get good results with every other week cleanings if the monthly cleanings were leading to problems.

Keeping The Revenue Stream Flowing for Automated Vending Machines

  1. What performance metrics are you using to measure your vending machines’ profitability and your revenue stream’s general health?
  2. Do your track your sales over time in each of your machine locations?
  3. How do you know that your sales are dropping and what the potential causes might be?
  4. How do you decide what action to take when you do see your sales slide?

The above questions are meant to make you stop and think about your business and how you measure its success.  If you cannot determine that your sales are dropping off until the loss is so great that it will take weeks, if not months, for the revenue stream on an installation in question to recover–if at all; then what actions do you take?

If you are somehow able to determine that your bill acceptors are rejecting valid currency, what are the costs associated with having to acquire replacements, have yours cleaned, and the pay shipping a few times to get all the parts and pieces back in your hands?  Is this $100.00 per occurrence?  Maybe $150.00?  Maybe even more!

OK, you have finally decided that your bill acceptors are not accepting real money and that is why your products are not selling.  What are your options?  In the past you were limited to a very few options–one is mentioned above–and the others were options that would eventually cause your equipment to fail in a major way.

The dollar bill acceptor cleaning cards we offer today are a far cry from what we had just 2 years ago!  Today virtually all out cards are saturated with a non-alcohol cleaning solution that is actually good for your rubber belts and roller wheels.  This cleaning solution has the ability to cut through years of built up grime in a bill acceptor and clean it out leaving a device that will once again process valid currency properly!

This doesn’t all happen on the very first insertion.  Typically you will take a cleaning card and run it through the acceptor 4-10 times over a 2-5 minute period which will give the solution ample time to loosen the grime and cause it to be removed from the instrument by the card.

Now, the card itself is different.  The old style cards were as flat as a newly printed US greenback.  The problem with this is that money is much more flexible than a cleaning card and therefore touches the unit in many more places than a flat card could possibly get to.  The new Waffletechnology™ cards of today have builtin raised cleaning “waffles” as they are called which expand inside the acceptor to reach all the various points along the bill path.  This allows the Waffletechnology™ cards to do a much better job of cleaning accumulated grime out of your equipment.  With the grime gone, your customer’s valid currency will be accepted, your sales will go up, and your revenue stream will increase–along with your profits!
